Fiteen Hundred years is a long Time Ago

I recently read a book about a Harvard professor that is a historian, he researches an event and then recreates that event to prove that it has actually taken place, and is possible. The Brendan, a book about Irish Monks in 520 AD build a sailing vessel out of Oxhide and a oak frame, they leave Ireland and arrive in the Americas two years later.
Now this has been written about throughout History, and Tim Severin  has built a replica of the Brendan and hired three other sailors to make the voyage across the Northern Atlantic to New Foundland in 1976.
Because the Atlantic crossing took them to Ice Land, Greenland and some small islands in between it was required that these men keep warm. Yes they had wool, and usually more than one layer and something called oil skins, that could have been their foul weather gear. The sail boat was an open vessel and water quite frequently entered the boat, sometimes drenching them. The wool always provided warmth even when wet.
Quite an adventure, and possible here proving that the leather hull could take the bumbs of ice bergs, the sea water and the weather that was encountered. Frankly, I would rather wear a nice leather jacket than sail in the North Atlantic in a leather boat.

Cumulus Nimbus

In  the next few minutes I will have the chance to give a good description of the Colorado afternoon in early June, as near as I can tell we will have light showers this afternoon that could build into something stronger later this afternoon.
Any time the dark gray clouds build and no shower show  during the afternoon, we usually have mostly clear skys at night or thunderstorms late evening into the next morning.
I've  been watching the sky for months after I read a book on cloud formatio s and the names of clouds. The ground is cool in spring and the moisture rises till it reaches the stratus sphere where the air temperature is a steady cool temperature, between the ground and the stratosphere alot of  clouds can form. Colorado has several roads in a month. The billowing is usually seen in the afternoon and can be very beautiful. Sometimes the two are hard to tell apart.
Cirrus is the most interesting I think as they transform from moving air and can be hard to catch on film as they are always changing. Due to the Rocky Mountains to the west we see lots of cirrus clouds. And when studying clouds in Colorado cumulus nimbus.... are unpredictable.

Under there,,,I just made you say underwear

While growing up in the mountains, five months out of the year were cold weather. It was important to find a good under garment, the first and most important layer of clothing. Silk is one of a kind. It is lightweight and soft. Good for the first layer when dressing for cooler weather activities. The light weight fabric allows the skin to sweat naturally without holding the moisture next to the skin.
Wool happened to be one of the warmest cloths and many garmets were made of this. The cloths structure allows moisture to move through it, allowing the body to stay warm and dry.
Today fleece is a favorite for comfort and warmth. With the soft feel and the warmth it is used for every age. From garments to accessories like blankets and throws.

Like the expedition weight comfort material made by Wickers sportswear, this is uniquely warm for low activity for extremely cold conditions.

Wickers Sportswear Inc is the place to shop for all your all weather gear. Any activity, sport or occupation that face the elements of the outdoors, or just to stay warm indoors during the winter months. See the link below to view the great inventory of under garments.
